Garden City, New York (January 25, 2018) – The New York Lizards have announced that they will be holding an open tryout on Saturday, February 24th from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the All Star Arena, which is located at 635 Middle Country Road, Selden, NY 11784. The team is looking to fill five roster spots for the 2018 season.
For those who do not register online, on-site check in for the tryout will begin at 12:30 PM with a $150 entry fee. The fee will include a full evaluation by the Lizards coaching staff, and all participants will receive a pinnie. All players must already be registered in the Major League Lacrosse Player Pool to participate.
Head Coach Joe Spallina stated “I am really excited about this tryout. Instead of filling out our training camp roster with maybes we thought this provided a great opportunity to see players in person get to know them and assess their talent. We will run players through an MLL style practice and let them compete to earn a spot.”
Some participants may be invited to the Lizard’s training camp which begins on Saturday, April 7th, where they will have a chance to compete for a full-time roster spot. Refunds will not be awarded except if a player is injured and receives a doctor’s note or were already picked up by another MLL team.
