After the supplemental draft concluded, the Lizards traded with the Boston Cannons to acquire the rights to defenseman Jack Reid. In return, the Boston Cannons received the Lizards 2014 sixth round collegiate draft pick.
Reid is a 2006 graduate of UMass, and has been in the league since 2006. After college, he spent three seasons with the Rochester Rattlers, before joining the Cannons. Reid has won two MLL Championships, his first with Rochester in 2008 and the second with Boston in 2011. At UMass, Reid was a three-time All-American and 2006 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year.
When asked about acquiring Reid, Lizards head coach Joe Spallina said, “Getting bigger and tougher was a definite goal of ours. Getting a player like Jack Reid couldn’t be more ideal, he is a proven winner and a tremendous addition to our young talented team. Jack has won championships before and having someone in our locker room that has done that is paramount for me and the Lizards organization.”
