Three Lizards’ draftees were announced USILA Division 1 All-Americans today. Rob Pannell and JoJo Marasco, who will be gearing up for the Final Four this weekend in Philadelphia, were both honored with First Team selections. Current Lizard Jeff Tundo from Stony Brook University was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American.
Rob Pannell became just the fourth Cornell men's lacrosse player in the history of the program to be named a four-time All-American when he was named a first-team selection this morning by the USILA. Pannell, a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy finalist, has been named first-team All-American in each of his past three seasons, after earning a third-team selection as a freshman in 2009. In his final campaign, Pannell has matched or exceeded his previous career season highs with 53 goals, 42 assists and 95 points, just 10 points off the school single-season record.
A Tewaaraton Award finalist and the Big East Midfielder of the Year, JoJo Marasco, ranks fifth in the Big East in scoring (3.22 points per game) and second in assists (2.11 per game). He leads the Orange in points (58) and holds the school single-season record for assists by a midfielder with 38 this season.
Jeff Tundo received his first All-America Honorable Mention honor after finishing his Stony Brook career with 108 points in only 32 games. Tundo ended his senior season with 63 points (36g, 27a) to lead all Division I midfielders. The 5-10, 200-lb Tundo posted six of his 13 hat tricks in 2013, and became the 21st player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau despite playing only two seasons.
